Operation GK Walang Iwanan
Gawad Kalinga Walang Iwanan (No Leaving Behind) was held at the RFM Gymnasium. Donations here will be sent to evacuation centers for the victims of Ondoy (and the currently looming Pepeng). We were pleased to see plenty of donations and a lot of volunteers. But considering the damage Ondoy caused, there’s more work to be done and more help needed.
Our family donated 500 pieces of bread to this center (many thanks to Tita Agnes for baking the bread! They were huge, and the boxes were heavy, but that’s exactly how we wanted it!). My sister and I delivered our donations, and we also did some volunteer work. We were in charge of quality assurance; we checked all of the bags to see if they were complete and ready to be handed out to each family in various evacuation centers. We made sure that each bag had rice or pasta, canned meat, water, basic toiletries, and a treat (e.g. muffin, biscuit, etc.).
To everyone who supported any cause to help the victims of Ondoy, this one or another, your help will go a long, long way. If you want to help out but haven’t yet, I’ve got some info on how to help out here.
Thank you all so much.
