It still feels like falling for the first time.

visibility: hiddenI stopped publicly accepting design projects about a year ago. I was tired of designing sites for shops that provided the exact same product to the exact same audience in the exact same community. And I was absolutely sick of working with people who acted like they owned my soul. “Retired” is what I called myself. I still designed for select people, though – family, friends, and really, really nice previous clients. A few dozen websites and business card templates later, I realized that I haven’t really retired. I just went underground. Here are mock-ups of some of the stuff I’ve worked on since. I’m working on two more sites as I type, so it doesn’t look like I’m gonna retire for real anytime soon. I’m considering publicly accepting design projects again, as it seems like a significant number of people want me back. It’s gone to the point where my previous clients are getting messages from various people on how I can be stalked/ contacted. Hopefully I’ll be able to handle that level of stress again. For now I’m thinking of how I can set limits to who can avail of my services. Without sounding cocky. Operation GK Walang IwananGawad Kalinga Walang Iwanan (No Leaving Behind) was held at the RFM Gymnasium. Donations here will be sent to evacuation centers for the victims of Ondoy (and the currently looming Pepeng). We were pleased to see plenty of donations and a lot of volunteers. But considering the damage Ondoy caused, there’s more work to be done and more help needed. Our family donated 500 pieces of bread to this center (many thanks to Tita Agnes for baking the bread! They were huge, and the boxes were heavy, but that’s exactly how we wanted it!). My sister and I delivered our donations, and we also did some volunteer work. We were in charge of quality assurance; we checked all of the bags to see if they were complete and ready to be handed out to each family in various evacuation centers. We made sure that each bag had rice or pasta, canned meat, water, basic toiletries, and a treat (e.g. muffin, biscuit, etc.). To everyone who supported any cause to help the victims of Ondoy, this one or another, your help will go a long, long way. If you want to help out but haven’t yet, I’ve got some info on how to help out here. Thank you all so much. I Usually Blog About Happy ThingsTo my Facebook contacts: I know this is gonna show up on your News Feed, so if you’re getting bombarded with messages about this, I apologize, but this is quite necessary. A horrible typhoon hit the Philippines last weekend. Ondoy (a.k.a. Ketsana) wrecked and submerged a lot of things, it killed a lot of people, and simply put caused huge, huge problems to many, many Filipinos. There are a lot of people who need all the help they can get. To people who live in the Philippines, you can call 143 or 527.0000, or check out The PNRC site for details on how to donate. You may also donate to the Philippine Red Cross via G-cash or SMS. To donate via SMS, text RED<space>AMOUNT to 2899 (Globe) or 4483 (Smart). To donate via G-CASH, text DONATE<space>AMOUNT<space>4-digit M-PIN<space>REDCROSS to 2882. Better yet, if you’ve got extra time on your hands, volunteer at a PNRC center near you. There’s a lot of work to do and so many people to help out. People who live outside the Philippines can make online or wire transfer donations via The Philippine National Red Cross. You can also donate via PayPal at TXTPower. All donations coursed through TXTPower will be sent to the Philippine National Red Cross. Your help and your efforts would go a long, long way. Thank you so much. You all take care. |
